intestinal flu
popular term for any of several disorders of the stomach and intestinal tract; symptoms include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal
cramps, and fever. During the acute stage all foods should be avoided, although carbonated soft drinks can be taken in moderation
to relieve nausea. When symptoms subside, the diet is at first be confined to liquids and soft, bland foods, with avoidance
of milk products, other fatty foods, fruits, and greens until symptoms subside.
