pneumococcal pneumonia
the most common type of lobar pneumonia, usually caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, with inflammation of one or more lobe(s) of the lung. Characteristics include chills followed by sudden fever, dyspnea, tachypnea,
pain in the side, and coughing with bloodstained sputum. It usually begins in the lower lobe, which becomes congested and
then red and solid.
