capsular pattern
the predictable loss of range of motion in a joint following injury or a degenerative process such as arthritis; this often occurs in a limb when it is continually held in a position of comfort. When the limb is held against the body
and internally rotated, the greatest loss of motion will be external rotation, followed by abduction, then flexion, then internal
rotation.
