tent (tent)   a fabric covering for enclosing an open space, especially such a covering over a patient's bed for administering oxygen or aerosol by inhalation.
  a conical, expansible plug of soft material for dilating an orifice or keeping a wound open to prevent healing except at the bottom.
  to elevate tissue in order to prevent adherence to underlying organs.
 

oxygen tent  a large plastic canopy that encloses the patient in a controlled environment, formerly much used for oxygen therapy, humidity therapy, or aerosol therapy.
