tobramycin (to″brә-miĀ“sin) an aminoglycosideantibiotic produced by Streptomyces tenebrarius and used topically as the base to treat external infections of the eye, by oral inhalation to treat Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in patients with cystic fibrosis, and intramuscularly or intravenously as the sulfate salt to treat a wide variety of infections.
