In the primary or deciduous teeth there are eight of these, two on each side, upper and lower; in the permanent teeth) there are usually 12, three on each side, upper and lower. These are the grinding teeth, having large crowns with broad chewing surfaces; they usually have four or five cusps; upper molars have three roots and lower molars have two roots. The third molar teeth (wisdom teeth) are often malformed. Called also molars.
