vasculitis (vas″ku-liĀ“tis) pl. vasculiĀ“tides inflammation of a blood or lymph vessel; see arteritis, lymphangitis, and phlebitis. Called also angiitis. hypersensitivity vasculitis
a subgroup of systemic necrotizing vasculitis including several types of hypersensitivity reactions, such as to drugs, infectious agents, or exogenous or endogenous proteins; all disorders in this group involve the small
vessels. necrotizing vasculitis

chronic vasculitis of subcutaneous tissue, a condition of unknown etiology almost identical to erythema induratum but without evidence of tuberculosis. Characteristics include painful, red to blue, nodular lesions that may ulcerate and leave scars or resorb and leave atrophic
depressions; in late stages there is replacement of the subcutaneous fat by fibrosis and atrophy. systemic necrotizing vasculitis
any of a group of disorders characterized by inflammation and necrosis of blood vessels, occurring in a broad spectrum of
cutaneous and systemic disorders. It includes Churg-Strauss syndrome, polyarteritis nodosa, the various kinds of hypersensitivity vasculitis, and other conditions. Called also necrotizing vasculitis.
