lipomatosis (lip″o-mә-to´sis)   abnormal localized or tumorlike accumulations of fat in the tissues. Called also liposis.
 

multiple symmetric lipomatosis  nodular circumscribed lipomatosis in which the fat deposits merge to form a ring around the neck; called also Madelung disease.

nodular circumscribed lipomatosis  formation of multiple circumscribed or encapsulated lipomas in subcutaneous tissue. A type affecting the neck is called multiple symmetric lipomatosis or Madelung disease, and a painful type involving nerves is called adiposis dolorosa.
