meglumine (meg´loo-mēn) a crystalline base used in preparing salts of certain acids for use as diagnostic radiopaque media. Meglumine diatrizoate is used in angiocardiography and excretory urography; meglumine iodipamide is used in cholecystography; and meglumine iothalamate is used in cerebral angiography, excretory urography, and peripheral arteriography. Called also methylglucamine.
