miliaria rubra miliaria in which the obstruction is deep in the epidermal layer, with rupture producing itchy red papules and blisters. The severity of the symptoms varies with the heat load of the individual. Treatment is directed at reducing sweating by reducing the external heat load and avoiding irritating agents and tight clothing. Bland powders may be helpful. Called also heat rash and prickly heat.
