liquid glucose a thick, sweet, syrupy liquid obtained by incomplete hydrolysis of starch and consisting chiefly of dextrose, with dextrins, maltose, and water; used as a pharmaceutic aid. Sometimes simply called glucose. It is not interchangeable with dextrose for intravenous injection.
