griseofulvin (gris″e-o-fulīvin) an antibiotic administered orally as an antifungal agent for infections of the skin, nails, and scalp. Treatment usually must be prolonged and the patient must be watched for signs of leukopenia, which often occurs when the drug is administered over a long period of time.
