hydrocele
(hiĀ“dro-sēl)
a circumscribed collection of fluid; especially, a painless swelling of the scrotum caused by fluid in the tunica vaginalis testis, the outermost covering of the testes. It can be removed by withdrawing the fluid by tapping through the outer layer of tissue,
or by cutting away the outer layer of tissue. The latter operation makes it impossible for the hydrocele to recur.
