xeroderma
(zēr″o-derĀ“mә)
excessive dryness of the skin, a mild form of ichthyosis.
xeroderma pigmentosum
a rare, autosomal recessive, sometimes fatal pigmentary and atrophic disease in which the skin and eyes are extremely sensitive
to ultraviolet radiation. It begins in childhood with excessive freckling, telangiectases, keratoses, papillomas, carcinoma, and melanoma. Eye symptoms
include photophobia, opacities, and tumors.
