family planning
the practice of birth control measures, including any of numerous methods; see contraception.
natural family planning
methods of avoiding conception without the use of artificial contraceptive means. The calendar method simply estimates when the next menstruation will occur from when previous ones occurred. Other methods measure body temperature
or amount and consistency of cervical mucus as indicators of when ovulation is approaching. Called also fertility awareness methods.
