substantia alba  white matter.

substantia gelatinosa  the substance sheathing the posterior horn of the spinal cord and lining its central canal.

substantia grisea  gray matter.

substantia nigra  a dark layer of gray matter separating the tegmentum of the midbrain from the crus cerebri.
