vitamin B6 any of a group of water-soluble members of the vitamin B complex, including pyridoxine, pyridoxal, and pyridoxamine; in the body they are concerned in the metabolism of amino acids, the degradation of tryptophan, and the metabolism of glycogen. They are found in many foods, especially meats, liver, vegetables, whole grains, cereals, and egg yolk.
