adenovirus
(ad´ә-no-vi″rәs)
any of a large group of viruses causing disease of the upper respiratory tract and conjunctiva, and also present in latent
infections in normal persons; many induce malignancy in certain species. Along with many rhinovirus subspecies and the picornaviruses, adenoviruses are among the causes of the common cold. adj., adenovi´ral., adj.
