(ang-ziŽә-te)
a multifaceted emotional state involving feelings of uneasiness, dread, or fear about the future. Besides the subjective emotion,
there are often physical symptoms resulting from muscular tension and autonomic nervous system activity, which may include sweating, dizziness, shortness of breath, insomnia, loss of appetite, and palpitations. See also anxiety disorders.
