basis pedunculi cerebri the large bundle of nerve fiber tracts forming the ventral part of the cerebral peduncles, consisting of corticospinal, corticonuclear, corticopontine, parietotemporopontine, and frontopontine fibers descending from the cerebral cortex and terminating in the pons and spinal cord. Called also crus cerebri.
