prolactinoma (pro-lak″tĭ-no´mә) a pituitary adenoma made up of lactotrophs that secretes excessive amounts of prolactin; this may delay puberty in either sex, cause galactorrhea-amenorrhea syndrome in women, or decrease libido and fertility in men. Called also prolactin cell or prolactin-secreting adenoma and lactotrope or lactotroph adenoma.
