reticulohistiocytosis (rә-tik″u-lo-his″te-o-si-to´sis) formation of multiple reticulohistiocytomas. Multicentric reticulohistiocytosis is a condition seen mainly in women, characterized by polyarthritis with nodular swellings on the hands and large joints; it sometimes progresses to multiple organ failure that can be fatal. Solitary lesions called reticulohistiocytic granulomas are seen mainly in men.
