obsession
(ob-sesh´әn)
a recurrent, persistent thought, image, or impulse that is unwanted and distressing (ego-dystonic) and comes involuntarily
to mind despite attempts to ignore or suppress it. Common obsessions involve violence, contamination, and doubts. See also
