paranoia

in current usage, a descriptive term limited to the characterization of behavior that is marked by well-systematized delusions
of persecution, delusions of grandeur, or a combination of the two. adj., paranoiŽac, parŽanoid., adj.
There are several disorders in which paranoia may occur; see delusional disorder, shared psychotic disorder, paranoid personality disorder, and schizophrenia (paranoid type).
former name for what is now called delusional disorder.
