cicatricial pemphigoid
a benign, chronic, subepidermal blistering disease chiefly involving the mucous membranes, especially those of the mouth and
eye. It chiefly affects the elderly and heals by scarring, which may lead to slow shrinkage of the affected mucous membranes
and connective tissues. In the eye it is called ocular pemphigoid. Called also benign mucosal pemphigoid.
