dystrophy (dis´trә-fe) any disorder due to defective or faulty nutrition, especially muscular dystrophy. adj., dystroph´ic., adj. myotonic dystrophy
a rare, slowly progressive, hereditary disease, marked by myotonia followed by muscular atrophy (especially of the face and
neck), cataracts, hypogonadism, frontal balding, and cardiac disorders. Called also dystrophia myotonica, myotonia atrophica, and myotonia dystrophica. nail dystrophy
changes in the texture, structure, or color of the nails due to no demonstrable cause, but usually presumed be attributable
to a disturbance of nutrition. Called also dystrophia unguium and onychodystrophy. reflex sympathetic dystrophy
complex regional pain syndrome type 1.
