ecthyma (ek-thi´mә)   an ulcerative pyoderm usually caused by group A beta-hemolytic streptococcal infection at the site of minor trauma, predominantly involving the shins and feet, and generally healing with variable scar formation.
  an ulcerative pyoderma usually caused by infection with group A β-hemolytic streptococci at the site of minor trauma; the usual site is on the shins or dorsal feet, and it may or may not leave a scar upon healing.
 

ecthyma gangrenosum  a condition most often seen in immunocompromised or otherwise debilitated patients in association with septicemia caused by gram-negative organisms, characterized by lesions that begin as vesicles and rapidly progress to pustulation and gangrenous ulcers.
