decidua (dә-sid´u-ә)   a name applied to the endometrium during pregnancy, all of which except for the deepest layer is shed after childbirth; called also decidual or deciduous membranes. adj., decid´ual., adj.
 

basal decidua  , decidua basalis  the portion of the decidua directly underlying the chorionic sac and attached to the myometrium.

capsular decidua  , decidua capsularis  the portion of the decidua directly overlying the chorionic sac and facing the uterine cavity.

menstrual decidua  , decidua menstrualis  the hyperemic uterine mucosa shed during menstruation.

parietal decidua  , decidua parietalis  , true decidua  , decidua vera  the portion of the decidua lining the uterus elsewhere than at the site of attachment of the chorionic sac.
