What this drug is used for

Naphcon A and OcuHist eye drops share the same pair of active ingredients. Both products temporarily relieve eye itchiness and redness caused by ragweed, pollen, grass, and animal hair and dander.

How should you use this medication?

Put 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye up to 4 times daily. Remove contact lenses before using. For children under 6, consult your doctor.

Store at room temperature away from light.

Do not use this medication if...

Unless your doctor approves, do not use these eye drops if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, an enlarged prostate gland, or high pressure within the eye (glaucoma). Avoid these products if you've had a reaction to any of their ingredients.

Special warnings about this medication

If you experience eye pain, changes in vision, or continued redness or irritation--or if the condition gets worse or lasts more than 3 days--stop using the drops and call your doctor.

To avoid contaminating the eye drops, do not touch the tip of the container to any surface. Replace the cap after using. If the solution becomes cloudy or changes color, do not use it.

Overdosage

Overuse of these products can make the redness worse. If an infant or child drinks the solution, it could lead to coma and a marked loss of body temperature.
