What this drug is used for

Tylenol Severe Allergy temporarily relieves runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose or throat, itchy, watery eyes and sore throat caused by allergies such as hay fever.

Unlike Tylenol Allergy Sinus products, this medication does not include a decongestant to unclog stuffy nose and sinuses.

How should you take this medication?

The usual dosage is 2 caplets every 4 to 6 hours. Do not take more than 8 caplets each 24 hours.

Do not take this medication if...

Unless your doctor approves, avoid Tylenol Severe Allergy if you have high pressure within the eye (glaucoma), an enlarged prostate gland, or a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis.

Not for children under 12.

Special warnings about this medication

If you have an allergic reaction to this product, stop taking it and call your doctor.

Do not take this product for more than 10 days for pain or 3 days for fever without your doctor's approval. If your pain or fever won't go away or gets worse, or if you develop new symptoms or notice any redness or swelling, stop taking the product and check with your doctor; you might have a serious condition.

You should also check with your doctor immediately if you have a sore throat that is severe, lasts for more than 2 days, or is accompanied or followed by fever, headache, rash, nausea, or vomiting.

Tylenol Severe Allergy may cause overexcitement, especially in children. It can also make some people drowsy. Be especially cautious when driving, and when operating machinery.

If you have 3 or more alcoholic drinks a day, check with your doctor about taking this product. The acetaminophen it contains can cause liver damage.

Possible food and drug interactions when taking this medication

Do not use Tylenol Severe Allergy while taking other medications containing acetaminophen, such as Excedrin, Percocet, and all other forms of Tylenol.

If you are taking a tranquilizer such as Valium or Xanax, or a sleep aid such as Halcion or Seconal, do not take Tylenol Severe Allergy without your doctor's approval; the combination could cause extreme drowsiness. For the same reason, avoid alcohol while taking this product.

Overdosage

* Symptoms of Tylenol Severe Allergy overdose may include:
Feeling of general discomfort, perspiration, nausea, vomiting

If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.
