Brand name: Tylenol Allergy SinusPronounced: TYE-luh-naul Generic ingredients: Acetaminophen, Chlorpheniramine maleate, Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride What this drug is used forTylenol Allergy Sinus temporarily relieves runny nose, sneezing, itchy throat, and itchy, watery eyes caused by allergies such as hay fever. It also unclogs stuffy nose and sinuses, and relieves sinus pain and headaches. The product is available in caplet, gelcap, and geltab form. How should you take this medication?The usual dosage is 2 pills every 4 to 6 hours. Do not take more than 8 pills each 24 hours. Do not take this medication if...Get your doctor's approval before taking Tylenol Allergy Sinus if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, high pressure within the eye (glaucoma), an enlarged prostate gland, or a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis. Not for children under 12. Special warnings about this medicationIf you become dizzy or nervous, or have trouble sleeping, stop taking Tylenol Allergy Sinus and check with your doctor. Do the same if you develop an allergic reaction to the product. Do not take this product for more than 7 days for pain or 3 days for fever without your doctor's approval. If your pain or fever won't go away or gets worse, or if you develop new symptoms or notice any redness or swelling, stop taking the product and check with your doctor; you might have a serious condition. You should also check with your doctor immediately if you have a sore throat that is severe, lasts for more than 2 days, or is accompanied or followed by fever, headache, rash, nausea, or vomiting. Tylenol Allergy Sinus may cause overexcitement, especially in children. It can also make some people drowsy. Be especially cautious when driving, and when operating machinery. If you have 3 or more alcoholic drinks a day, check with your doctor about taking this product. The acetaminophen it contains can cause liver damage. Possible food and drug interactions when taking this medicationDo not use Tylenol Allergy Sinus while taking other medications containing acetaminophen, such as Excedrin, Percocet, and all other forms of Tylenol. Also avoid taking this product within 2 weeks of taking any drug classified as an MAO inhibitor, including the antidepressants Nardil and Parnate. If you are taking a tranquilizer such as Valium or Xanax, or a sleep aid such as Halcion or Seconal, do not take Tylenol Allergy Sinus without your doctor's approval; the combination could cause extreme drowsiness. The mild anxiety, rapid heartbeat, and high blood pressure usually appear within 4 to 8 hours after the overdose and usually disappear without treatment. Nevertheless, if you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately. Return to top |
