Brand name: Sudafed Sinus & AllergyPronounced: SUE-da-fed Generic ingredients: Chlorpheniramine maleate, Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride Other brand name: Pediacare Cold & Allergy Liquid What this drug is used forLike all Sudafed products, this one temporarily relieves the stuffy nose that comes with a cold or hay fever. In addition, it contains an antihistamine that combats symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose or throat, and itchy, watery eyes. The same combination of ingredients is available for small children in Pediacare Cold & Allergy Liquid. How should you take this medication?Doses may be repeated every 4 to 6 hours. Do not take more than 4 doses each 24 hours. The usual doses are as follows. * SUDAFED SINUS & ALLERGY

Do not take this medication if...Avoid this product if you are taking a prescription drug classified as an "MAO inhibitor" (see "Possible food and drug interactions..." below. Check with your doctor before using this product if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, high pressure within the eye (glaucoma), an enlarged prostate gland, or a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis. Special warnings about this medicationIf you become dizzy or nervous, or have trouble sleeping, stop taking this product and check with your doctor. Also stop and check if symptoms do not improve within 7 days or you develop a fever. The antihistamine in this product may cause drowsiness. Be especially cautious when driving, and when operating machinery. This ingredient can also cause excitability, especially in children Possible food and drug interactions when taking this medicationDo not use this product within 2 weeks of taking a drug classified as an MAO inhibitor, such as the antidepressants Nardil and Parnate. If you are taking a tranquilizer such as Valium or Xanax, or a sleep aid such as Halcion or Seconal, do not take Sudafed Sinus & Allergy without your doctor's approval; the combination could cause extreme drowsiness.
