Who gets asthma?
Hi! My name is Jerry. I have asthma. Some kids–like you and me–get asthma. But having asthma isn't all that bad. We just have to control it. In this book, I'll help you learn how. Then you'll be able to do the things you like, too.
A paper horn can show you what happens in your lungs.
- Blow into the horn. Air goes in and out smoothly. This is what healthy lungs are like.
- Now, crumple the curled part of the horn. Then try blowing into the horn. See what happens? The air can't get in and out. That's what happens in your lungs when you have asthma.
