What this drug is used for

Gas-X relieves the bloating, pressure, and fullness that result from gas. The active ingredient, simethicone, is also available in the form of infant drops (see Infants' Mylicon).

How should you take this medication?

* GAS-X
For adults, the usual dose is 1 or 2 pills as needed after meals or at bedtime. Chew tablets thoroughly. Swallow softgels whole with water. Unless directed by your doctor, do not take more than 6 chewable tablets, 4 extra-strength softgels, or 3 maximum-strength softgels each day.

* GAS AID
For adults and children over 12, the usual dose is 1 or 2 pills as needed after meals or at bedtime. Do not take more than 4 pills daily.

* MYLANTA GAS RELIEF
Take 1 tablet or 1 to 2 softgels 4 times a day, after meals and at bedtime. Do not take more than 6 regular-strength tablets or 4 maximum-strength tablets or softgels per day.

* PHAZYME
Take 1 or 2 pills as needed after meals. Do not take more than 4 pills of Phazyme-125 or 2 pills of Phazyme-180 per day. If using tablets, chew thoroughly.
