What this drug is used for

This medicine relieves diarrhea and cramping. Kaopectate is available in liquid and caplets, Donnagel in liquid and chewable tablets, Rheaban in caplets.

How should you take this medication?

For best results, take the full recommended dose at the first sign of diarrhea and after each subsequent bowel movement, up to a maximum of 6 doses each 24 hours (for Donnagel, 7 doses). Swallow caplets whole with water. Chew the chewable tablets thoroughly.

* ADULTS AND CHILDREN 12 YEARS AND OVER

2 pills or tablespoonfuls.

* CHILDREN 6 TO 12

1 pill or tablespoonful.

* CHILDREN 3 TO 6

Half a chewable tablet or tablespoonful.

* STORAGE

Store at room temperature.

Do not take this medication if...

Unless your doctor approves, do not give caplets to children under 6 or liquid or chewable tablets to children under 3. Do not use a product if it has caused an allergic reaction; and avoid these products if you have a high fever.

Special warnings about this medication

Limit use to 2 days. If diarrhea doesn't improve, call your doctor.
