The ingredients in Robitussin-PE liquid are also available in pill form as Robitussin Cold Severe Congestion Softgels. The guaifenesin in these products helps loosen bronchial mucus, making it easier to cough up. The pseudoephedrine relieves stuffy nose.
Take a dose every 4 hours, but do not take more than 4 doses a day. A dosage cup is provided for Robitussin-PE.
* ADULTS
The usual dose for adults and children 12 years and over is 2 teaspoonfuls or softgels.
* CHILDREN
Age 6 to 12
The usual dose is 1 teaspoonful or softgel.
Age 2 to 6
Give half a teaspoonful of Robitussin-PE.

* STORAGE
Store both products at room temperature.
Unless your doctor approves, do not take either of these products for the type of lasting cough that results from smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema, or for coughs that bring up large amounts of mucus. Also check with your doctor before using these products if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, or an enlarged prostate gland.
If you become dizzy or nervous, or have trouble sleeping, stop taking this medication and check with your doctor.
If cough and other symptoms don't improve within 7 days or tend to come back--or if you also have a fever, rash, or lasting headache--check with your doctor. A lingering cough could signal a serious condition.
Do not use either of these products within 2 weeks of taking a drug classified as an MAO inhibitor, such as the antidepressants Nardil and Parnate.
